MUSICAL HISTORY
As a six year old I learned the recorder, progressing to clarinet at the age of 9. Early tuition has inspired me to pursue music throughout my life. At the age of 18, I saved enough money to finally buy a professional model tenor saxophone. With my friend we formed “Oxun”, one of four bands selected to play at Luzern's talent festival under the Lions Monument.
In Sydney, I played tenor saxophone in shows with bands covering various styles: T-Vibes, reggae and soul calypso; Sweet Dreams, Eurythmics concept. We regularly performed all over NSW on the Harbour and Premiere circuits.
After my move to the Northern Rivers
1998-2001 I successfully completed a Bachelor of Contemporary Music at Southern Cross University, Lismore. I toured with Lisa Hunt Forever Soul band and have performed and recorded two albums with Gypsy Funk band Stypsky.
I have participated in numerous recording projects playing soprano, alto, tenor, baritone saxophones and bass clarinet. I am fortunate to have played in a number of Big Bands and established the Northern Rivers Youth Jazz Orchestra. I enjoyed being the musical director / band leader in a band of the best young musicians in Northern New South Wales. We have worked with talanted musician such as Ken Stubbs, John Hoffman and Steve Newcomb.
I have been teaching saxophone, clarinet, flute and recorder in the Community Studies department at Northern Rivers Conservatorium and Arts Centre in Lismore.
Now based in Brisbane I play and teach professionally.
I organise bands for events, if you would like to get in touch for your next event.
